Black Olympians 2004-2005 Calendar
Carrying the Torch / The First 100 Years
The Whitfield
Foundation, headed by U.S. Olympic Champion, Mal
Whitfield, and following the publication of his new
book, "Beyond the Finish Line," is pleased to announce a
celebration of the "first 100 years" (1904-2004) of
Black athletes' participation in the modern Olympic
Games. In conjunction with IOKTS Productions, we have
produced "CARRYING THE TORCH," an 18-months educational
calendar that exhibits the pioneers, record-breakers and
trendsetting Olympic athletes beginning from the year
1904 to this years' Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
This calendar is
the first of its kind that features such well known
Olympians as Jesse Owens, Eddie Tolan, Ralph Metcalfe,
Marion Jones, Wilma Rudolph and other famous athletes.
Also featured are relatively unknown Olympians such a
George Poage, John Taylor Baxtor, DeHart Hubbard, Jose
Andrade and many more accomplished athletes. The photo
images contained in the calendar are frameable and
includes detailed biographies, Olympic facts, and daily
important contributions highlighting significant dates
in history on these magnificent athletes.
